A STUNNING Antique French curtain panel dating c1890I am just unpacking my latest shipment from my fall buying trip … more A STUNNING Antique French curtain panel dating c1890I am just unpacking my latest shipment from my fall buying trip to Europe! This is one of the many treasures. This curtain panel is made in the late 1800’s and uses the most GORGEOUS Indienne designed printed fabric! The colors in this print are milk chocolate ground, soft mauve, pale lilac, deep lilac, deep cream and taupe! The design is truly extraordinary, one of my favorites! The fabric is a very heavy weight soft twill weave 100% cotton. This panel is made by seaming 2 widths of this wonderful fabric together down the middle. The original trim still remains on this panel just along the bottom. The trim is wool ( it has not survived in wonderful condition, but it is lovely to see! ) This panel is backed with a light weight finely woven cotton. 6 of the original very heavy iron rings remain stitched into place on the top of this panel. The top is gently pleated where the rings are attached. Photographing in Vermont in the winter, is never easy! The photograph that shows the panel out ( number 7) appears to show heavy fading on the end, however this is just light coming in from my window! This panel is gently faded, however does not have any heavy uneven fading. It would look truly remarkable hung as is a conversation piece for many years to come. ( #262) less

I have hand washed this panel, so it is freshly laundered and ready to use! The left side of this … moreI have hand washed this panel, so it is freshly laundered and ready to use! The left side of this panel has come unstitched from the backing, so a quick stitch to close is all it would take! The backing fabric has some holes, and has the fading stripes ( please see photograph) but generally in lovely condition for its age. There are some rust spots etc, to be excused! The weight of the Indienne fabric is what allowed this textile to survive in such amazing condition, I see no holes what so ever in this! There are some pale marks on the front in areas, however not at all easily spotted because of the pattern! Truly a remarkable find, rare and wonderful indeed. less
