Beautifully printed using hand carved wooden blocks with STUNNING printed borders hand stitched in place. The pattern is a trailing vine and floral motif with an elegant picotage ground pattern. The fabric was printed using hand carved wooden blocks, each color requiring a separate hand carved block. The colors include: red, pink, yellow, blue, green, mauve, deep purple and the ground has oxidized to a wonderful warm tone that only time can offer. There is a wonderful return of the printed fabric on the back, hand stitched in place, perhaps a later alteration for re-use. This textile has a backing of a very early light to medium weight cotton that institutionally I would have placed in the late 1700’s. There is the WONDERFUL tiny little hand stitched monogram on the backing with ink monogram! Such a little treasure. Wonderful pieced backing this textile has the original, antique rings for hanging still intact on the side edge. Ideal for any period home or textile collection ( please see my other textiles for matching textiles from this set ) ( I 1212) less
